Theatre Marketing Manager
The Role
The Theatre Marketing Manager is responsible for driving marketing excellence, digital capability and commercial performance across the UK theatre portfolio. Working closely with venue teams, senior operational leaders, promoters and producers, the role ensures a consistent and effective approach to marketing that maximises ticket sales, audience growth, on-site revenue and the successful delivery of new products and investments. The role also acts as a centre of expertise for theatre marketing, developing best practice, strengthening stakeholder relationships and supporting the performance of venues across the network.
The Responsibilities
Lead marketing best practice across the theatre portfolio, establishing consistent standards, tools and processes, while coaching and supporting venue marketing teams to improve capability and performance.
Drive digital marketing excellence, enhancing the use of social media, CRM, paid media, SEO/SEM, websites and reporting frameworks to improve audience engagement, campaign effectiveness and return on investment.
Optimise ticket sales performance, monitoring sales and marketing data, identifying underperforming shows, developing targeted sales-driving activity and aligning closely with ticketing partners and strategy teams.
Build and manage strong relationships with promoters, producers and touring companies, ensuring collaborative campaign planning and maximising the effectiveness of joint marketing investment.
Support revenue growth and new product launches, developing marketing strategies that increase on-site spend, promote hospitality and premium offerings, and ensure successful introduction of new investments and experiences.
Provide strategic stakeholder management and insight, partnering with operational leadership and senior marketing colleagues to align priorities, share performance reporting and drive continuous improvement across the theatre estate.
What we're looking for
Experience & Knowledge
Significant marketing experience within theatre, performing arts, receiving houses or producing environments.
Strong understanding of theatre ticketing models, audience development, subscription schemes and customer engagement strategies.
Proven experience building effective relationships with producers, promoters and touring theatre companies.
Experience supporting premium hospitality, commercial products and revenue-generating initiatives.
Skills & Capabilities
Strong digital marketing expertise across CRM, social media, paid media, website performance and audience growth.
Ability to analyse ticketing, sales and marketing data to drive decision-making and commercial performance.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and work effectively across multiple venues and teams.
Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills, with the credibility to drive best practice and capability development across a network.
Commercial & Desirable Experience
Strong commercial awareness, with a clear understanding of how marketing drives ticket sales, audience growth and on-site revenue.
Experience working closely with ticketing partners and leveraging performance insights to optimise results.
