Sales Executive - International Convention Centre

Olympia Events is undergoing a period of change. In 2017, the venue was bought by a consortium led by Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance international. Work is currently underway to transform the wider estate into a cultural hub of which Olympia Events will be the central part. Once complete, the estate will include a new theatre, music venue, two hotels, over 30 eateries, world-class office space and over two acres of public realm. Job Purpose: Reporting directly to the Head of Sales – International Convention Centre, you will be responsible for securing event sales that align with Olympia’s launch plan and strategic goals. You will possess a strong understanding of market trends and competitive landscapes to cultivate key relationships and help drive revenue growth.
Key responsibilities
- Support the commercial team in maximising event sales opportunities and helping to achieve sell-out across event spaces within the International Convention Centre and supporting areas in line with company targets.
- Proactively build relationships with clients and prospects across corporate, agency, and association markets in the UK and internationally.
- Represent the company with professionalism and expertise at trade shows and key industry events.
- Engage with event agencies, corporates, and associations to understand their needs and identify new opportunities for event partnerships.
- Nurture relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and support the reactivation of lapsed accounts.
- Assist in the creation of sales materials and presentations, including case studies and pitch decks, to support client meetings and proposals.
- Respond to incoming event enquiries for the ICC promptly and professionally, ensuring all leads are followed up effectively.
- Contribute to negotiations and help close new business under guidance from senior team members.
- Achieve KPI`s and targets to meet the growth expectations of the business.
- Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues across Olympia Estates Services to ensure all work and efforts are aligned to the wider destination opportunities.
Person specification
- A genuine interest in event sales and the wider events industry, with an eagerness to develop learnings about trends, clients, and markets.
- Proven experience in sales, customer service, or client-facing roles, ideally within a fast-paced or target-driven environment.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and professional messaging in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a natural ability to connect with people, both internally and externally.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and follow up on opportunities effectively.
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing time efficiently to meet individual and team goals.
- The ability to work autonomously.
- A committed team player.
- A high level of integrity and an ability to be discrete and tactful with due respect for confidentiality.
- Ability to analyse situations quickly and respond to those seeking advice/guidance.
- A self-starter with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and open to learning CRM or sales software tools.
