THE ROLE

Join the world's most recognizable brands in professional sports as we develop and enhance flagship e-Commerce platforms on Shopify. We're seeking an exceptional Senior Shopify Developer to lead development initiatives for our Madrid -based team, supporting high-profile digital properties with launches planned through 2026.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic Innovation:

• Lead development and enhancement of flagship sports ecommerce platforms on Shopify
• Drive innovative application functionality, business logic, and elevated ecommerce design patterns
• Transform business ideas and merchandising principles into sophisticated digital experiences
• Architect solutions that go beyond code creation to embody strategic business vision

Team Development & Mentorship:

• Guide and develop junior developers across multiple technical disciplines
• Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and technical excellence
• Provide purposeful mentorship that combines technical growth with business understanding
• Build team capabilities in modern ecommerce development and design thinking

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate effectively with US and EU based functional teams
• Gather requirements and develop solutions through iterative design processes
• Maintain strong partnerships with international stakeholders and business leaders
• Balance technical excellence with business relationship management and partner satisfaction

Technical Excellence & Innovation:

• Architect and implement complex Shopify solutions using Online Store 2.0, Liquid, and modern web technologies
• Build custom sections, integrate with existing middleware and APIs
• Ensure optimal Core Web Vitals performance and mobile-first responsive design
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in ecommerce development practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Expertise

• 5+ years of full-stack web development experience.
• 3+ years of intensive Shopify development with Liquid templating.
• Expert knowledge of Online Store 2.0, section schemas, and Shopify APIs.
• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
• Experience with ecommerce integrations, payment systems, and complex data migrations.
• Strong understanding of Core Web Vitals, SEO, and performance optimization.

Leadership & Innovation

• 3+ years of technical team leadership with a focus on mentoring and developing junior talent.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into innovative technical solutions.
• Experience bridging technical development with merchandising principles and business logic.
• Strong vision for elevated ecommerce design patterns and user experience innovation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Exceptional communication skills for working with international, cross-functional teams.
• Experience gathering requirements and iterating on designs with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to maintain strong business relationships while delivering technical excellence.
• Fluent English communication for coordination with US and EU based teams.

Professional Qualities

• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish and English).
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to work independently.
• Detail-oriented approach to code quality and testing.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with large-scale ecommerce migrations or re-platforming.
• Background in sports, entertainment, or high-traffic retail ecommerce.
• Familiarity with Broadleaf Commerce or similar enterprise platforms.
• Experience with international ecommerce (multi-language, currency, tax systems).
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and modern web performance techniques.
