About the Role
The Director of Security provides strategic leadership for security, emergency management, public safety, and health & safety compliance across Outernet London and the wider St Giles Estate. Responsible for protecting visitors, staff, artists, tenants, contractors, and partners, the role develops and delivers a unified security and safety strategy across high-profile entertainment venues, public spaces, live events, digital installations, and multi-tenant environments.
Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Director oversees threat and risk management, daily operations, major event security, crisis preparedness, and regulatory compliance. The role works closely with police, emergency services, regulators, tenants, and industry partners to ensure a safe, secure, and resilient environment while balancing landlord obligations with Outernet's commercial, creative, and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead 24/7 security operations across Outernet venues, public realm and estate-managed areas.
Develop and implement security strategy, policies, emergency plans and risk management frameworks.
Oversee major event security, crowd management and public safety planning.
Manage contracted security providers, performance standards, audits and service delivery.
Lead crisis response and emergency management, acting as Incident Commander during major incidents.
Ensure compliance with relevant security, licensing, fire safety and health & safety legislation, including Martyn's Law.
Build strong relationships with police, emergency services, local authorities, tenants and industry partners.
Foster a high-performing, customer-focused security culture across internal and contracted teams.
About You
Significant senior leadership experience in security, public safety and emergency management within large-scale venues, entertainment destinations, mixed-use estates or other high-footfall environments.
Proven experience leading 24/7 security operations, major event security and crowd safety programmes.
Strong knowledge of UK security, health & safety and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing security contracts, vendors and service providers.
Credible and influential leader with exceptional stakeholder management skills and experience working with executive teams, regulators and emergency services.
NEBOSH qualified, with relevant security qualifications such as CPP and ACT training highly desirable.
